Casa Santa Teresa

Santa Teresa, Puntarenas, Costa Rica.

Casa Santa Teresa was conceived in an atmosphere of total freedom - where the forest and the ocean are the main protagonists. Seeking to integrate the environment with existing living species allowed us to create a project where the concepts of re-use and re-interpretation mark the course of the design. The biggest challenge was restoration over demolition.

One of the most important decisions was to incorporate the terraces as a means of transition between interior and exterior; this followed by the choice to use natural materials such as wood. Accomplishing this offers the ability to adapt with greater fluidity and smoothness to the climatic and scenic conditions.

This design looks to the needs of a contemporary family with a great sensitivity towards nature, while rescuing the union between soul, mind, and body.
